Durham diaries, 1923-1940.

Diaries provide information on weather, commodity market prices, meals, ailments, problems with tenants, hunting and mining ventures, and opinions on politicians and local, state, national and international issues and events. Durham recorded events at the 1928 Democratic National Convention and other political conventions and election races. He also comments on the Teapot Dome Scandal, 1924; the murder trials of Eva Dugan, 1930, and Louise Marshall, 1931, and the kidnapping of June Robles, 1934. Racial and cultural biases are evident in many of the comments.
